Manchester United are considering a future move for Newcastle United’s Iberian starlet Ayoze Perez.

The Red Devils have previously scouted the former Tenerife player and have been impressed with his assimilation to life in the Premier League.

Reports in Spain suggest that Sir Alex Ferguson, who is still an influential voice in the corridors of Old Trafford, is a fan of the player’s movement and quick feet.

Perez is flattered by Ferguson’s admiration but is presently focused on his current role at St James’ Park. Speaking to Marca he said:

“We all know Sir Alex Ferguson and how big he was for football. They are big words that I have to prove so much. But I’m young and I have a long journey. I work so everything gets better.”

The Evening Chronicle report that Louis van Gaal’s scouts are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old, as they search for potential recruits for the January transfer window.

It is not the first time that the youngster has attracted attention from the world’s biggest clubs.

The Magpies beat off competition from both Real Madrid and Barcelona when they signed him for £1.5million from Tenerife, with the promise of first-team football.
