Man United fans enjoyed how Phil Jones congratulated Anthony Martial on his goal against West Ham

This amused plenty of people

Manchester United are up and running in the Premier League.

Their 4-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday afternoon was enough for them to finish the opening weekend of the new season on top of the table.

Most of the talk after the game might have been about the performances of new signings Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic, but the sight of Anthony Martial marking his substitute appearance with a goal also pleased United fans.

The Frenchman proved a huge success in his first season at Old Trafford, but didn’t feature as regularly for United following the arrival of Jose Mourinho last summer. It’s prompted many to suggest he might be unhappy in Manchester and looking to leave. As evidence to support such a theory, some fans have pointed out how Martial is rarely seen smiling.

Having scored the third of United’s four goals on Sunday, it was again noted that the former Monaco forward showed little emotion as he was congratulated by his teammates.

One of those to have noticed was Phil Jones, who many United supporters spotted urging his 21-year-old teammate to smile.
