Luke Littler booed in Liverpool after ‘rattling’ crowd

The United fan was keen to remind the locals about the Merseyside derby score

Littler has become a household name ever since his stunning performance at the World Championships, and has continued that form into the Premier League.

But, despite being a fan favourite across the country, the Manchester United fan was always likely to get a slightly different reaction when he walked out in front of an 8,500-capacity crown in Liverpool.

As the 17-year-old prepared to walk on for his first game of the night, against Gerwyn Price, the crowd booed the teenager.

Littler took it all in his stride, and showed that - just in case you needed reminding - he's not short of confidence.

The World Championship runner-up cupped his ears and signalled a 2-0 scoreline to the crowd, in reference to Liverpool's Merseyside derby defeat to Everton on Wednesday.

When he got in stage, he then reminded the crowd of the score again, just in case anyone hadn't noticed the first time.

Reacting on X, one person wrote: "Luke Littler tonight knows how the rattle the Liverpool crowd, what a guy!"

Another said: "Luke Littler has managed to rattle an arena full of scousers and he’s only gone and won the night as well, that is quality."

"Luke Littler has managed to rattle the entire city of Liverpool, great stuff," a third added.

Unsurprisingly, the gesture also went down a treat with Everton fans, with the club's social media account even sharing his antics.

In a post on X, they wrote: "Luke Littler knows the score at #PLDarts Liverpool"

The boos and Littler's antics seemed to all be taken in good humour though, and after beating Price and Nathan Aspinall, he breezed past Rob Cross 6-2 in the final to claim his third win of the season.

Speaking afterwards, Littler said: "I knew what was coming this week and I was building up to it.

"I always engage with the crowd and the semi-final I was playing with complete freedom.

"I just felt comfortable tonight. I knew what was coming and I was glad to win."

Littler tops the Premier League table ahead of world champion Luke Humphries, with the pair all but guaranteed to make it to the final night at the O2 Arena in London on May 23.
