Lucas Leiva had the most polite response ever to misinformed troll

That's one way to deal with online rumours

It takes a lot to rile Lucas Leiva.

Lucas remains a fan favourite at Liverpool, having left Anfield for Lazio last July following 10 years with the Merseyside club.

The Brazilian holding midfielder was always the epitome of class and he proved that not even the spreading of misinformation about him on social media can get a fiery reaction out of him.

Lucas responded like an absolute gentleman this week, when he was accused of advising former teammate Philippe Coutinho to leave Liverpool for Barcelona.

Coutinho’s move to the La Liga giants was confirmed on Monday, despite the Reds’ best efforts to keep a hold of their playmaker with a last-ditch loan attempt.

More than one Liverpool supporter suggested that Lucas had pointed his fellow countryman in Barcelona’s direction, in response to a Daily Mail article in which Lucas reportedly discussed the benefits of not playing in the Champions League for the remainder of the season.

Due to his ineligibility to play in the Champions League for Barca, having already represented Liverpool in the competition in the group stages, it was suggested that Coutinho will be much more energised for the summer’s World Cup.

“Missing the Champions League means you will be fresh for the World Cup, my friend,” Lucas is claimed to have said.

“It’s not ideal, but you have to look at things positively.”

Those quotes prompted anger from some fans, who misread Lucas’ positive-thinking for advice to jump ship.

One Twitter-user contacted the 30-year-old to vent her fury but she was met with the most polite response ever from Lucas.

Patricia has since deleted her original tweet.
