Louis van Gaal has given up on winning the Premier League after just four games

This won't go down well...

It’s been a rough few years for Manchester United after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

After the nightmare of David Moyes, it looked like United were getting back on track under Louis van Gaal with the club back in the Champions League.

But the Dutchman has dealt a huge blow to any hopes fans had of challenging for the title this season.

Just four games into the new season Van Gaal has told the Red Devils faithful to forget about winning the Premier League in 2015/16.

Manchester United v Chelsea - Premier League

The United boss broke the news at an Old Trafford fan event, saying he expected his side to finish second or third, according to the Manchester Evening News.

He did say he wanted to be competitive in all three cup competitions, but this won’t be what fans probably hoped to hear.

That will leave him with one more campaign to win Premier League silverware before he retires.

However he confirmed that United legend Ryan Giggs would be the man to succeed him in the Old Trafford hot seat – not ‘ifs’ or ‘buts’.

With players confronting the Dutchman in training and a stuttering start to the season with just three goals in four games, we wonder if that will be sooner rather than later.
