Liverpool fans are losing their shit over Jurgen Klopp having a ‘secret’ Twitter account

Klopp on Twitter? BOOM!

JOE

Maybe you’ll think twice about calling him ‘sugar puff teeth’ in future.

Jurgen Klopp is a thoroughly modern manager who is incredibly savvy when it comes to how he is perceived in the media. From stylish adverts to post-match bear hugs; his trademark designer glasses to fulsome fan appreciation on the pitch.

The charismatic German understands the power and psychology of controlling his own public persona. And his measured press conferences often instil a certain confidence in the fans – even when the chips are down.

It is therefore perhaps a little surprising that the Anfield boss doesn’t have a visible online presence. After all, his Everton counterpart Ronaldo Koeman famously has a blue-ticked official Twitter account, with over one million followers.

But now the hunt is on for a supposed covert account that Klopp is keeping on the serious down-low. The speculation is a result of his reaction to the fact that his Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum became a father this week.

It turns out Klopp didn’t actually know until the press pack let him know at his Friday press conference, and he joked that ‘Gini’ should have informed him before anyone else. He remarked:

“A little boy? So he [Wijnaldum] called all of you but not me?! Instagram, Twitter, Facebook – very good ways to inform me!”

Now it could well be that Klopp was merely joking, and that there is no ‘secret’ accounts of any kind, but that hasn’t stopped supporters wondering if he’s there online, reading their colourful views on the sly…
