Liverpool fans are freaking out as Sadio Mane is sent home from Senegal duty

That damn hamstring

Liverpool fans must dread the international break.

For the second time this season, Reds star Sadio Mane has picked up an injury while away representing Senegal.

Last month, Mane suffered a hamstring injury to his left leg, had to be replaced after 89 minutes of Senegal’s victory over Cape Verde Islands and missed several weeks of Premier League action before returning against West Ham last week.

And, unfortunately, the 25-year-old has sustained a recurrence of that same issue during Friday’s World Cup qualifier with South Africa which prompted Senegal management to allow him to return to Merseyside for treatment.

A statement reads: “The Senegalese Football Federation informs the national and international opinion that, following the match South Africa against Senegal on Friday, November 10, 2017, in Polokwane, the player Sadio Mane was slightly felt (sic) from his old injury.

“After consultations between the medical staff of the national team of Senegal and Liverpool, it was decided by mutual agreement to make it available to his club to continue treatment until full recovery.”

The extent of the injury remains unknown and Mane will be assessed at Melwood before a decision is made on whether or not he will be available to feature against former club Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Liverpool fans are hoping that Mane never goes on international duty again.
