Jose Mourinho is a born winner. As he puts it: “I am a champion.” It also makes him a terrible loser.
This was perfectly apparent after Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Following the game, Roberto Martinez was conducting an interview with the Liverpool Echo. Mourinho, miffed that Martinez was first to speak to newspaper journalists before him (and therefore delaying Chelsea’s return to London), made his irritation clear.
Interrupting the recorded chat, Mourinho is heard saying: “Roberto – next time tell me go before you because we have to travel…”
Martinez replies: “We don’t control that Jose, I don’t control that”, to which the Chelsea manager responds with a curt “F**king hell”, before storming off.
The Everton boss laughs off the incident with the Echo reporter, saying: “When he beat us 6-3 he was such a nice man, I prefer him like that!”
