Now the man at the United helm is Jose Mourinho, and he along with Ed Woodward and a tag-team of super-agents Mino Raiola and Jorge Mendes, have finally made a very expensive correction to the club ever letting him go in the first place.
Respected French journal L'Equipe, who have excellent connections to the player and his entourage, have confirmed that a deal has finally been struck for €120m (£100m) - plus bonuses. They state that an initial bid of €101m was initially rejected before a deal was struck.
The deal could be officially announced on Thursday.
