Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez goes missing after Manchester City transfer breaks down

Leicester haven't had word from him and he hasn't turned up for training

Riyad Mahrez has reportedly failed to turn up for training.

According to Sky Sports, Mahrez didn’t report for training with Leicester City on Thursday morning. On Wednesday, Leicester rejected a fourth transfer bid for Mahrez from Manchester City. The final bid was worth a reported £65m, plus a City player, but the Foxes rejected it, as they wanted a fee closer to £95m for the 26-year-old.

Mahrez handed in a transfer request to try force a move to the Premier League leaders, but to no avail, and he will now be a Leicester player until the summer at least. Sky claim that:

“Mahrez is understood to have told Leicester his emotional state is not strong enough to play football at the moment.”

The Algerian also reportedly refused to travel with the first-team squad for Leicester’s game with Everton on Wednesday night.
