LA Galaxy’s kitman is going to be in a lot of trouble for this Steven Gerrard cock up

Over the last few years, MLS teams have legitimised themselves in the sport of football somewhat with a series of big name signings.

David Beckham started a trend when he set out for the sunny shores of California back in 2007 and set down a path for the likes of David Villa, Frank Lampard and Bradley Wright-Phillips Andrea Pirlo to follow.

One of the most iconic players of the last decade of English football has been Steven Gerrard, so when he left his boyhood club Liverpool to join LA Galaxy last year, it was a real coup for the MLS side.

Sure, Gerrard is no longer the player he once was and he can’t be expected to run box-to-box making rash tackles and blasting in 30-yard screamers, but that’s not really point.

Signing the former Liverpool captain was a statement of intent from Galaxy, as they looked to add to the star power of previous LA players like David Beckham while also enhancing the reputations of the 2014 MLS player of the year Robbie Keane.

After all, Gerrard is probably one of the biggest names in football. You would expect that everyone would know exactly who he is – but not the LA Galaxy kitman apparently.

During the team’s recent 1-1 draw with San Jose, the former England captain was forced to wear a shirt with a pretty obvious spelling error on the back. Although the club’s Twitter account were happy to take the piss out of the whole situation, it’s pretty embarrassing to get your big name signing’s name wrong…
