The Frenchman’s current deal expires in 2024

Kylian Mbappé has denied claims that he has turned down the offer of a new contract from Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports on Monday suggested that the 24-year-old had written a letter to PSG officials to reject their advances of a new contract offer.

Mbappé’s contract expires in 2024, putting several clubs on red alert after it emerged that he could be able to join them for free in 12 months time.

However, while the forward admitted that he had written a letter, Mbappé insisted that no talks over a new contract had taken place.

In a statement to AFP, he said: “I have never discussed any contract renewal with PSG.

“The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them.”

The PSG star almost left the club last summer to join Real Madrid but changed his mind in the dying moments and opted to sign a new contract to remain at the Parc Des Princes stadium.

Madrid will be the most likely to land his signature as they look to find a replacement for Karim Benzema, who left to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.

Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested in bringing Mbappé to the Premier League but a lack of European football may prove to be too big of an obstacle to jump over given the forward’s stature and desire to win the Champions League as soon as possible.
