Klopp's moved quickly

Despite emerging victorious from their League Cup cup semi-final first leg at Stoke, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool defence was hamstrung by two fresh injuries.

With Martin Skrtel already on the sidelines, Dejan Lovren suffered a hamstring strain, leaving the Reds short of options in central defence.

But barely 24 hours later, it appears that Jurgen Klopp has moved quickly to reinforce his back line.

Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia has agreed a switch to Anfield according to TuttoMercato, with the two clubs needing to agree a fee for the player.

The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at the San Siro, with former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini rarely selecting him – despite captaining the side last season.

Ranocchia could be Klopp’s second signing at Liverpool, after the club completed a deal for Marko Grujic.
