When you've got Lucas dropping into central defence, and you're having to bring José Enrique out of semi-retirement, you know you're in trouble. Liverpool are clearly experiencing an injury crisis and no where is that more acute than in the heart of the backline, where practically every option is nursing an injury or strain. So you'd expect all their best scouts and analysts to scour Europe for the finest available centre-halves, or at least adequate loan options.
