Jurgen Klopp apologises to Alberto Moreno’s partner after win over Southampton

We're sure she'll forgive him

Say what you will about Alberto Moreno but you definitely can’t question his commitment lately.

The Liverpool left back has found a new lease of life this season and continues to give his all for the Reds’ cause while his showings on the pitch recently saw him called up to the Spain squad for the first time in over three years.

Moreno played all ninety minutes of his side’s comprehensive 3-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday afternoon and what makes his performance all the more impressive is the fact that the Spaniard’s family got a new addition overnight.

But while Moreno’s partner, Lilia, was giving birth to the couple’s second child, he was tucked up in bed at the Reds’ team hotel.

And after praising his side’s defence following Saturday’s game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reserved some words of apology for Mrs. Moreno.

“Real mature from all the boys. The two centre-halves played outstandingly well,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“Alberto became a father for the second time at 2.30am last night, I don’t know if a lot of players would have played like him today. He was in the hotel with us. Sorry for that, Mrs Moreno!

“It was a big step for him today. A really good performance for us.”

A brace from summer signing Mohamed Salah followed by a Philippe Coutinho goal made it three consecutive Premier League victories for Klopp’s side, the first time that they’ve accomplished that feat in 2017.
