We wouldn't have expected him to say anything else...

After recent events, we wouldn’t blame you if you were sick of hearing about David De Gea.

After the spectacular collapse of his Real Madrid move, many have been wondering how his relationship with Louis van Gaal has been left.

Fortunately, thanks to Juan Mata, we’re a little closer to knowing.

Mata is on international duty with the Spanish squad alongside De Gea, and says that he expects things to carry on as normal between the goalkeeper and the United boss.

“The last two years David has been the best player in our team. His saves have earned us a lot of points. I have no doubt this will be a very good year, too.

“I don’t think there’ll be a problem with the club, the coach or the fans. That’s what I perceive. The fans love him very much, he’s highly regarded by the club and the coach.”

It remains to be seen whether De Gea will be reinstalled between the sticks as United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
