The Colombian was unable to play the match due to injury

Tonight will go down in history as the first time that England won a penalty shootout at a World Cup. The reaction from Three Lions fans was encapsulated by Ian Wright who celebrated like every person up and down the country.

But for every winner, there has to be a loser.

Colombia’s star player James Rodriguez was left out of their starting line up and forced to watch the game from the sidelines after he picked up a calf injury in his country’s final group game against Senegal.

After his team lost James was understandably upset.

And while the England players celebrated their victory, a post-game moment was caught on camera that encapsulates the spirit of the World Cup, with Jordan Henderson touching the Real Madrid midfielder on the cheek, consoling him for the loss.

Sometimes pictures speak a thousand words.
