Chelsea pine for Pogba

Chelsea have made a habit out of releasing squad members they no longer need for a tidy profit in recent years and they might be about to repeat that strategy again in the summer.

The Telegraph reckon that the Blues will go after highly sought-after midfielder Paul Pogba in the summer and that they are prepared to offer Brazilian duo Oscar and Ramires as makeweights in any deal.

Atletico Madrid’s Koke is apparently being eyed as a back-up, but if the Pogba deal does go ahead, it might be too much for the Manchester United fans who have been at breaking point since the Frenchman left the club.

Mats more like it for United

There is news of a more positive note for United fans in The Mirror, where it is being reported that Mats Hummel told German teammates during the international break that a deal to move to the Red Devils is as good as done.

Hummels would not only sort out the problems in the Manchester United defence that have been apparent all season, but would also provide competition for Juan Mata in the mancrush department amongst Old Trafford regulars. Swoon.

Pelle moving Klose to Italy return

Graziano Pelle has made a pretty significant impact in his brief time in England to date, but his time in England could be a lot more brief than Southampton fans would have hoped.

A move back to the homeland is tempting for any player and The Mirror say that Lazio have identified Pelle as a replacement for Miroslav Klose, who’s set to retire at the age of 68 this summer.

Pelle would reportedly have to take a huge pay cut to return to Serie A, so maybe Saints fans shouldn’t be too downhearted just yet.

You want more?

*Most questionable transfer rumour of the day goes to The Sun, who claim that Italian giants are ready to part with a whopping £43 million for Yaya Toure. £43 million for a player who turns 32 next month.

Think of the resale value Roberto. The resale value!

*Raheem Sterling’s all over the papers again this morning, with The Daily Mail suggesting he could be doing his thang at Chelsea next season.

The Mail’s reasoning appears to be based on the fact that Sterling comes from London and, you know, might want to return there some day, but we can expect plenty more of where that came from until his future is sorted one way or another.

*As many as eight clubs (count ’em) across Europe are willing to take Fabio Borini off Liverpool’s hands this summer (The Sun).
