Jermaine Jenas made his punditry debut for Channel 4’s coverage of the Women’s Euro 2017 tournament on Thursday. Jenas was in Tilburg, in the Netherlands, for England’s Group D game against Portugal.
Before he could provide expert analysis he fell victim to every pundit’s worst fear when standing beside a football pitch – he was hit by a rogue sprinkler.
Jenas got a mouthful within seconds of the broadcast beginning.

Sprinklers are a hazard for pundits at the side of the pitch during broadcasts. And, in fairness, Jenas handled it well.
Unlike poor Phil Neville, who looked petrified earlier this year when something similar happened at Goodison Park.

Jenas looked surprised, so he didn’t have much time to get out of the way. But, you could see this sprinkler attack coming a mile off during a recent game in Ireland.
