More women have reportedly come forward with fresh claims of inappropriate behaviour against Jermaine Jenas, just hours after he was sacked by the BBC.
The former footballer had been working for the broadcaster as a pundit and presenter for Match of the Day, as well as hosting The One Show, but was sacked yesterday for ‘inappropriate behaviour’ towards a female colleague.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed the news saying: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up.”
An investigation uncovered messages that "horrified" investigators and Jenas was fired by the broadcaster shortly after.
The 41-year-old is now facing fresh allegations as more women have come forward following the news of his sacking, the Sun reports.
News of his sacking broke whilst he was live on air with talkSport presenting a one-off show.
He immediately defended himself by saying there are ‘two sides to every story’ but that he’d step back as he’d let his ‘lawyers deal with it’.
When asked about the claims on air he responded saying he ‘can’t really talk about it’.
He added: “I, as you can probably see, I am not happy about it.”
“But currently, as it stands, I’m going to have to let the lawyers deal with it. You know, there’s two sides to every story, as we know. So, that’s all I can say right now.”
A BBC source told the Times Jenas was investigated "immediately" after rumours emerged of inappropriate messages, and he was fired "pretty fast."
“There are no excuses for anyone in power abusing their positions. He’s a man in power messaging some runners," they said.
