Joshua will now need to find a new opponent after Miller’s failed tests

Jarrell Miller has vowed to “own up to it” after multiple failed drug tests cost him a shot at Anthony Joshua’s world titles.

It emerged earlier this week that Miller had tested positive for the banned substance GW1516 and days later, news broke that the unbeaten New Yorker had tested positive for GW1516 again and EPO in a separate test, as well as Human Growth Hormone in a third test.

Having initially intimated that he was innocent, Miller has now admitted that he “messed up”.

After the New York State Athletic Commission refused to license Miller due to the adverse drug test findings, Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn are now on the lookout for a replacement opponent for the June 1 fight in Madison Square Garden.

The outcome has likely cost Miller a minimum of $6 million, which would have represented a career-high payday for ‘Big Baby’.

“I messed up. I messed up, I made a bad call,” Miller said on Instagram.

“There’s a lot of ways to handle a situation, I handled it wrong and I’m paying the price for it.

“I missed a big opportunity and I’m hurting on the inside. My heart is bleeding right now. I’ve hurt my family, my friends, my team, my supporters.

“But I’m going to own up to it, I’m going to deal with it, I’m going to correct it and I’m going to come back better.

“I’m humbled by the experience to understand how to handle certain things. I’m going to leave it at that.”
