Jamie Vardy had a terrific explanation for rumour linking him to Chelsea

He doesn't take it too seriously

Jamie Vardy’s take on the transfer rumour mill is probably right on the money.

Vardy has been linked with several clubs ever since he contributed 24 goals to Leicester’s fairytale Premier League triumph in the 2015/16 season.

And while he only found the net on 13 occasions last season, he seems to have found his goalscoring boots again, with ten goals already in the league in this campaign.

He knows where the goal is, that’s never been in question, but his pace is what has made him such a tantalising prospect for clubs all over Europe.

The latest side to be linked with the 31-year-old is Chelsea, where the signing of another forward remains a priority for Antonio Conte this January.

But ahead of the Foxes’ FA Cup fourth-round clash at Peterborough, Vardy simply laughed off all the transfer rumours, suggesting a brilliant reason for how the speculation gets started.

“Who have I been linked with today? Chelsea, they’ve been linked with everybody haven’t they?” Vardy replied when asked about the rumours.

“You just have to take things like this with a pinch of salt, it’s just rumours. Usually it all gets started by someone throwing a few quid on it at the bookies.

“I’m a Leicester player and I’m just concentrating on Leicester until the club tell me otherwise and we will be looking to progress to the next round of the cup.”
