Is this the end of the David De Gea saga?

Tom Victor

It’s been on and off for weeks, but now we may be able to draw a line under the David De Gea to Real Madrid saga.

After La Liga’s governing body, the LFP, refused to extend the registration period for new players, reports in Spain claim Real have indicated they will not appeal to force a move through for the goalkeeper.

We’re not sure what that means with regards to United’s pursuit of Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, as there is theoretically time to force through a deal but the Spanish club may now be reluctant to let the Costa Rican leave.

With De Gea out of contract next summer, he’s unlikely to command as high a fee if Madrid return with an approach in January.

But who knows, perhaps Navas will impress so much that Rafa Benitez decides to stick with what he’s got.
