A fire alarm went off in the arena on Wednesday, prompting the arrival of fire crews and an evacuation of everyone inside.
The evacuation is not currently believed to have been caused by a serious incident, with reports suggesting it was caused by a smoke detector near one of the Gabba's kitchens.
Footage seen from inside the venue is said to have shown attendees leaving the stadium as quickly as possible following the alarm, with some walking across the pitch to make their exit.
Fire crews were called to inspect the situation, and were led inside the stadium.
The surprise evacuation comes on the eve of the beginning of the second Ashes test in Brisbane.
Ben Stokes' England go into the match looking to improve on their batting collapse in the opener, as England lost the first two-day Ashes test in more than 100 years.
Australia are hoping to see the return of their captain Pat Cummins ahead of the match, and are yet to name their lineup.
The star bowler was ruled out of last month's clash with a back injury that has troubled him since July.
England also go into the Brisbane test with fitness issues of their own, after fast bowler Mark Wood was ruled out.
The match is set to run from December 4 until December 8, with play beginning at 3.30am GMT on Thursday.
