The Tour de France had to be temporarily suspended after a huge crash took down around 20 riders, including race leader Fabian Cancellara.

The decision was taken to "neutralize" the race, with officials citing concerns about not being able to provide medical backup to those still riding. According to reports, all medical resources were devoted to those who crashed, forcing the rest of the riders to wait for the race to restart. https://twitter.com/DavidWalshST/status/618064944274092032 Check it out for yourself: https://twitter.com/mike_anstead/status/618064675847163904 Cancellara rejoined the peloton as they began to race again, although Tom Dumoulin, Laurens Ten Dam and Simon Gerrans were all forced to withdraw.
