According to numerous reports, the 19-year-old is due for a medical with Palace ahead of inking a season-long deal at Selhurst Park.

Fosu-Mensah, a Dutch under-21 international, is understood to have been promised regular first team football by new Eagles boss, Frank De Boer.

De Boer knows the player well from his time as manager of Ajax, a club at which Fosu-Mensah played during his youth career.

Since joining United in 2014, the player has made 21 first team appearances – impressing supporters after breaking through towards the end of Louis van Gaal’s final season at Old Trafford.

Although the Amsterdam-born youngster might not have featured as frequently as some fans might have expected during Jose Mourinho’s first season as United manager, he did sign a contract keeping him at the club until 2020, with an option to extend for a further year.

Fosu-Mensah has largely featured as a right-back for United’s first team, although can play in central defence or in central midfield.

Crystal Palace begin their Premier League campaign at home to newly-promoted Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon, a game in which Fosu-Mensah could make his debut.
