Hector Moreno was left smiling after Luke Shaw hospital visit

It would have been very easy for the young left back to be bitter.

Luke Shaw’s season has been ruined after a tackle from Hector Moreno earlier this month left him with a double leg fracture.

The Manchester United full back is set to be out of action for around six months, but showed a real classy touch when he came face to face with the man behind his injury.

Hector Moreno apologised after the game for the challenge that snapped Shaw’s leg, and when the PSV man visited Shaw in hospital, the former Southampton man said there was no hard feelings.

The Mexican defender himself knows what it’s like to have suffered a broken leg and according to an interview with Dutch newspaper Metronieuws, he was happy that Shaw could accept his apology.

“I’m glad I was able to go speak to him. I went with Phillip Cocu to the hospital. That was very difficult at the beginning, but he was very kind to me and didn’t blame me.”

“He had seen the images and said it was part of football. That made me smile.”

We’re not sure too many players would be so magnanimous after being confronted by the man who ended your season.

Moreno also revealed that the negative reaction towards him was hurtful at the time but that he was always sure he would be able to cope with the attention:

“I did not even touch him, he can still play normal again? This reaction was magnified all over, they were criticized. Also because the two actions followed one another in quick time. Of course it is not nice, but I put none of that there. The people who know me know that I would never intentionally injure someone. I’m a nice guy. Do you know that it used to be always said to me that I would be too soft for a defender?”
