Hector Bellerin and Jeremy Corbyn are taking the mickey out of Piers Morgan

Paul Moore

Arsenal things.

In his weekly column, Piers Morgan revealed that Jeremy Corbyn once prevented him from joining a conversation that the Labour leader was having with Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin. Earlier this year, Corbyn and Bellerin met at the Tate Modern in London and were chatting away – presumably about Arsenal because as we know, Corbyn’s an Arsenal fan and his Islington North constituency includes the club.

Earlier that evening, the Good Morning Britain host had been seated at the same table as the Spanish international.

Morgan wrote: “Later, fellow Arsenal fan Jeremy Corbyn came over to speak to him (Bellerin). When I tried to interrupt, the Labour leader – whose wife is Mexican – promptly switched to fluent Spanish to shut me out of the conversation.”

Morgan then asked Corbyn what he was talking about with Bellerin. ‘I told him to please send Arsène Wenger my very best and assure him he continues to have my full support, even if he’s lost yours, Piers. In fact, particularly because he’s lost yours…’ said the Labour leader.

Well, since that article was published, it’s clear that the three men are having a bit of fun with the whole situation.

Bellerin was the first one to bring it up after he tweeted that specific extract from Morgan’s article.

In response, here’s what Corbyn wrote (via Google Translate at least!) “It was nice meeting you. It’s best if we do not tell him what we were talking about, he would not understand. Very good game in the match on Sunday,” said the Labour leader.

“Thank you, Mr. Corbyn, and of course, it’s all between us! It was a pleasure to meet you!,” replied Bellerin.

You have to give it to Piers Morgan because he’s more than happy to roll with the laughs.

We really hope to see Theresa May getting involved in a football discussion on Twitter with Eamonn Holmes and David de Gea.
