Harry Redknapp rips into Arsene Wenger’s decision to drop Petr Cech

Harry Redknapp joined a long list of people criticising Arsene Wenger for his selection choices in the Champions League defeat to Olympiakos.

David Ospina was given the nod ahead of Petr Cech in goal, and was at fault for the Greek side’s second goal.

Redknapp states in his article for the London Evening Standard that he didn’t see the need to drop Cech, despite him conceding three goals against Leicester last weekend.

‘Resting Cech sent the wrong message to the rest of the team. We have seen it time and again in the Capital One Cup where big teams are knocked out after making so many changes because the players think, ‘Oh well, it’s not that important today,’ the former Spurs manager writes.

‘It only breeds the kind of inconsistency Arsenal have shown this season. When things are going their way, they are excellent. Some of the football they played at Leicester was phenomenal but so often they are vulnerable,’ he adds.
