Kane will reportedly ask for a move away this summer should Spurs miss the Champions League again

Harry Kane will reportedly push for a move away from Tottenham in the summer if the club fail to secure Champions League football next season.

As first reported by The Athletic, Kane is running out of patience at Spurs’ inability to compete for major trophies, and will seek a move elsewhere if they miss out on qualification for Europe’s premier cup competition for the second season in succession.

A final decision is only expected to be made after this summer’s European championships but the article claims Manchester City and Manchester United are the most likely clubs to make a move for the England striker at this stage.

United and City have both been persistently linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland, but Kane –  albeit seven years Haaland’s senior – would be seen as an ideal fit for both clubs as they look to bolster their striking options ahead of next season.

It is not out of the question that some of the other major European clubs said to be considering a big money move for Haaland may also view the 27-year-old as an alternative.

Kane extended his current deal at Spurs three years ago. Although he has the chance to win the club’s first trophy since 2008 in the Carabao Cup final later this month, he is said to believe the major trophies to be more out of reach than they had been when he decided to prolong his stay.

Spurs welcome United to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium this weekend, which they begin three points adrift of the Champions League qualification places in sixth position. Their hopes of qualifying for the tournament via Europa League success were brought to a humiliating end by Dinamo Zagreb .
