Grealish has dismissed a report claiming he clashed with the City boss

Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish has rubbished a report claiming that he clashed with Pep Guardiola during the club’s win over West Ham United on Sunday.

The reigning Premier League champions began their title defence with a convincing 2-0 win against the Hammers at the London Stadium.

New signing Erling Haaland scored twice on his Premier League debut, with City registering 76% possession and recording 14 shots.

Grealish – who signed for City for £100m last year – started alongside Haaland and England teammate Phil Foden in attack, with the former Aston Villa man playing the full 90 minutes.

On Monday, Grealish responded to a now-deleted tweet from Sport Bible, which included a link to an article written earlier in the day (August 8) which claimed that he ‘told Guardiola where to go’ during City’s win over West Ham.

The Englishman tweeted: “Fuckin hell, everything you’ve just wrote did not happen…  what a shit irrelevant page! He was giving me tactical advice, ask him yourself if I said anything back to him”.

Guardiola was quick to praise Grealish after the victory over David Moyes’ side, suggesting that City’s second goal in the game belonged to the attacker for the work he put into orchestrating it.

The Spaniard said: “We had a feeling we can look at him [Erling Haaland] a bit more and will find him more – Gundo the first, Kevin the second.

“He can move more left, right. Now we have to do it again. The guys have to put the ball there. especially in transitions.

“The second goal was an incredible action for Jack, the goal belongs to him, he keeps the ball, dragged opponents, finds the perfect ball to Rodri, this happens with space and then Kevin is difficult to stop.

“We’ll find many games five at the back in the box. we’ll have to find alternatives.”

Man City face off against Bournemouth in their next Premier League match, with the Cherries having overcome Aston Villa in their opening game of the campaign.
