Gary Speed remembered, four years on from his untimely death

Simon Lloyd

The Welsh Football Association will mark the fourth anniversary of Gary Speed’s death by illuminating an image of the former Wales manager on the windows of their Cardiff offices.

The former midfielder spent close to a year in charge of the Welsh national team before his untimely death in 2011.

After Wales reached their first major tournament in over fifty years, the Welsh FA also described their qualification as a ‘fitting tribute’ to Speed.

The sentiment was echoed by Arsenal’s Welsh international midfielder, Aaron Ramsey.

Fondly remembered throughout the football community, many have taken to Twitter to pay their respects to Speed, including the five clubs he represented.
