So when French race-walker Yohann Diniz suffered similar stomach problems during a long-distance Olympic event, some people's thoughts turned immediately to Lineker.
Diniz could be seen relieving himself mid-race, prompting a fair few people to turn to the man they regard as an expert on sporting bowel movements.
