Furious Liverpool fans blame the club’s Twitter account for Bournemouth’s late equaliser

Jinxed it...

Liverpool’s top four hopes were dealt a blow on Wednesday evening.

Days after seeing off Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield, Jürgen Klopp’s side appeared to be closing in on another vital three points at home to Bournemouth.

After falling behind to an early Benik Afobe goal, Philippe Coutinho had pulled them level before half-time. Divock Origi, starting the match ahead of the injured Sadio Mane, later put them ahead with half an hour to play. Surely, there was only one outcome…

However, as the clock ticked away towards full-time, Bournemouth produced a dramatic late equaliser through Joshua King.

Understandably, Liverpool’s supporters were frustrated to see two crucial points slip away from them in a game many had expected them to win.

To those fans that had followed the game’s closing stages on the club’s official Twitter account, there was an inevitability about the Cherries’ equaliser. A matter of seconds before King found the back of the net, the following tweet had been sent out by the person with the keys to the Liverpool account.

Twitchy Reds feared the worst…

And sure enough, the club’s very next tweet confirmed King’s goal.

It was enough for some of the club’s fans to point the finger of blame at the club…
