Furious Birmingham fans made their feelings perfectly clear about Gianfranco Zola at full-time

Nothing says "Zola out" more than a small child angrily hurling a bottle in the direction of the pitch

JOE

Gianfranco Zola’s spell as Birmingham City boss is over.

The 50-year-old, who was appointed four months ago, resigned after the 2-0 defeat at home to Burton having overseen a total of just two win in 24 games

Before Gary Rowett was sacked in December, the Blues were seventh in the Championship but have since plummeted to 20th. Their defeat on Monday afternoon left them a mere three points above the relegation zone.

After failing to report for a post match press conference, Zola later confirmed that he had indeed stepped down, adding that he felt the club stood a better chance of progressing with someone else in charge.

To be honest, having seen some of the footage which greeted the full time whistle at St Andrew’s, it’s hardly a surprise that Zola stepped down.

This video, shared on Twitter by Nick Glynn, paints a clear picture of the anger amongst the home support. As well as plenty of booing, chants of “We want Zola out” can be heard either side of the full time whistle.

Keep an eye out for one particularly angry young Blues supporter, who sees fir to hurl a bottle in the direction of the pitch…
