Fulham fans outraged at £100 ticket prices to opening game vs Liverpool

Fans are rightly fuming with the cost of admission

Fulham have released their matchday ticket prices for their Premier League opener against Liverpool in August, and fans are rightly fuming about the cost of admission.

Marco Silva’s side earned promotion back to the top-flight after emphatically securing the Championship title last season, winning 27 of their 46 league matches and scoring a staggering 106 goals.

The London club will face off against Jurgen Klopp’s side at Craven Cottage on August 6, returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking after being relegated at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

While Fulham’s supporters are understandably excited about being back in the top flight – and playing against Liverpool in their first match – the matchday ticket prices for the clash have been met with backlash by fans.

A ticket in the Riverside stand will cost supporters a whopping £100 for adults and over 65s/18-21, with an U17 ticket set to cost £70.

In the Johnny Haynes stand, Fulham fans will be charged £90 for an adult ticket, while an over 65/18-21 ticket will cost £85. Like in the Riverside stand, an U17 ticket is priced at £70.

The cheapest adult ticket is priced at £30 in the Johnny Haynes family stand, with a child’s ticket set to cost £20 in that part of the ground.

How did social media react?

Unsurprisingly, fans were annoyed and angry with the cost of tickets, slamming the club for the ‘offensive’ cost of admission.

One Twitter user wrote: “What 18-21 year old do you know that can afford £60 a ticket every other week?! That’s more than a weeks worth of food for a student”.

Another added: “Made even more audacious by prices if it was at Anfield. Either being taken for rich mugs or tickets are aimed at well-off neutrals.”

A third said: “It’s literally offensive to our loyal fans to set such prices in the middle of the biggest cost of living crisis in decades. Lots of people likely to be priced out completely.”

Another stated: “I don’t often call out my Club in fact never but these prices are disgusting”.

A fifth person added: “Really can’t see me getting to a home game now this season. Can’t justify it. Shocking prices.”

Another said: “Are you joking with those prices? Do you ever listen to fans?”

For context, as per Peter Rutzler, Crystal Palace’s max ticket price for an adult for a Category 1 game is £65.
