Friends x Man United mash-up feat. Gary Neville and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

FootballJOE return with a new mash-up song, with Gary Neville covering the Rembrandts' 'I'll be there for you', in tribute to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

‘Cause you scored at Camp Noooouuuuuuuu

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is somehow still manager of Manchester United Football Club. Despite those humiliating losses to arch rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, the Norwegian remains at the helm, after the club missed out on the chance to bring Antonio Conte to the club.

Solskjaer is a divisive coach, with many fans and many detractors. And then there are those who might be critical of his team’s performances, but reluctant to call for his dismissal as they know him personally. It is an unenviable position to be in, when the whole footballing world is calling for you to say your friend should be sacked on TV.

Yes, we’re talking about Gary Neville. In his defence, he has addressed the matter, saying he never called for previous United managers to be sacked, and he wasn’t going to change that stance now. Fair enough.

Still, it is quite funny when the general consensus is that while Solskjaer did a decent job getting United back into the top four and rid the club of the toxicity that Jose Mourinho had brought in, he is now out of his depth and won’t be able to take the Red Devils any further.

And so, we put our minds together to create our latest mash-up song. Combining The Rembrandts’ ‘I’ll be there for you’, and some vocals from Neville himself, we present: FRIENDS, the Manchester United edition.

Manchester United take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon, and Solskjaer will be hoping to silence his critics with an emphatic win. But that’s the thing with this United team, you never know which version of them is going to turn up: the defiant heroes or the children who seem to have forgotten the rules of the game.
