Aaron Hernandez is going to spend the rest of his life in jail after killing Odin Lloyd.
Hernandez once had a $40m contract with the New England Patriots but was sacked just hours after he was arrested for killing Lloyd – the boyfriend of his fiancée’s sister – in 2013.
The 25-year-old Hernandez had been considered one of the top tight-ends in the game.
During the trial, his defence team admitted he was present during the murder – Lloyd was found with six bullet holes in his body less than a mile from Hernandez’s home – but denied that he had pulled the trigger.
After seven days of jury deliberations, Hernandez was found guilty of murder and other weapons charges.
