Wayne Rooney furious after row with Marco Silva over player’s future at Everton

Wayne Rooney will bid farewell to the Premier League this summer, as he has agreed a deal in principle with MLS club DC United. It's been clear for a while that Wayne Rooney is not the player he once was. But, such is the character of Wayne Rooney, he still feels that he's got enough left in the tank to be useful to his boyhood club Everton. Marco Silva disagrees though. The newly appointed Everton coach has told Rooney that he does not intend to use him as anything more than a bit part player, which has angered the former England captain. Rooney is reportedly furious at Everton's attempts to push him out the door. He had intended to end his career where he started it after a long, successful spell at Manchester United in between. He was Everton's top scorer last season, despite being moved around from playing as a striker, to playing as a number 10 and occasionally further back into a holding midfield role - under three different managers, too. But the Liverpool born forward will have to see out his career in the American capital, following in the footsteps of fellow England legends Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, who also finished their careers at MLS clubs.
