Scottish side lose 51-0 in cup game

They lost 19-0 the week before

Unfortunately, for one side, they somehow went one worse - well - 32 worse as they were beaten 51-0 in a cup tie.

St Machar Thistle AFC from Aberdeenshire were dealt an almighty hammering in the first round of the Scottish Amateur Cup.

Coming up against AC Mill Inn Academy in tough conditions they were already at a disadvantage after starting the game with only eight players due to family, work and study commitments getting in the way.

The side, who formed two months ago and play in the Aberdeenshire Amateur Football Association Division 2 had initially thought they had 10 men to play with, but were told the two trialists were ineligible.

Alas, they decided to play on and manager Cameron Ashwood admitted that his side aren't phased and plan to "own the result."

He told the BBC: "Any other team I think they'd walk. We just sat down and said, 'let's try enjoy ourselves here'.

"They were loving it. There were smiles all around and that's all I can ask for before we get to where we want to be.

"Results like this do happen, there's no need to shame away from it. Every club will have moments like this when you're starting out.

"We're not ashamed of it one bit. We are owning it."

He continued: "I'm letting some lads play football, get out the house for a bit to talk with people, interact, it makes it all worth it.

"The majority of the feedback I've been getting is positive. It's also a lesson to ourselves. We're an example of when it goes wrong, this is what happens."
