A football club in Mexico have decided to give a stray dog a job at the club after he invaded the pitch during a recent match.
Last week, Alebrijes de Oaxaca were beating Dorados de Sinaloa 4-0 in Mexico's second tier as the game entered stoppage time.
And, just as both sides were probably hoping for a drama-free final few minutes to the game, a stray dog had other ideas.
Clearly keen to get involved with the fun on the pitch, the canine ran on and grabbed the ball in his mouth.
It turned out the pooch had some nifty ball-retention skills and nimble footwork, as he evaded the efforts of stewards who wanted the ball back to complete the game.
Take a look at the canine Lionel Messi below:
Despite the interruption to the game, it seemed like everyone saw the funny side of the dog's intervention - and he clearly impressed Alebrijes with his impromptu trial.
After the game, the club announced that they would be adopting the pup as their mascot and making the stadium his new home.
In a statement on social media, Alebrijes said: “Our new best friend is with us at [the stadium], after making his Alebrije debut.
“We are sheltering him in the stadium, and we’re going to take him to the vet. [We’ll] make him a suitable place in the stadium to make it his home.”
In a second post, the club shared pictures of their new mascot being taken to the vets to have some medical tests so that he can "be loaned in the coming days officially."
Best of the luck to the new signing!
