The holiday home in Ibiza is said to be owned by Brazil legend Ronaldo

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has had more than £2.5m worth of values stolen from his holiday home in Ibiza, with police currently looking for the burglars.

Verratti wasn’t in the property at the time

Local press say the intruders entered the property – which is reportedly owned by former Brazil striker Ronaldo – in the early hours of Sunday morning while Verratti and his family were out.

In addition to cash, the criminals also allegedly took watches and jewellery during the offence. Verratti hasn’t posted pictures of himself on holiday, however, his wife Jessica Aidi has been active on Instagram, documenting their time away.

The Italy international hasn’t made any public comment about the break-in either, while the civil guard investigating the case declined to comment on Monday night.

There has also been no comment from Ronaldo either, who is a regular on the Balearic Island with his partner, Celina Locks.

Dani Olmo was recently mugged on a Spanish city high street

Verratti is the latest high-profile footballer to be involved in an incident involving theft. RB Leipzig and Spain midfielder Dani Olmo had his watch stolen in a violent mugging on June 17, which saw his brother injured as a result.

The 24-year-old was leaving a hairdressers in Valencia before the attack happened.

The watch was ripped away from the hand of Olmo before the thief drove away with his accomplice. The brother of the Spain international tried to stop them by getting into the car while they were driving.

Medics were called to attend to him after he suffered injuries as a result of being dragged along the pavement by the vehicle as it tried to escape.
