Manchester United could definitely have timed the launch of their new app better

Surely someone at Manchester United should have flagged that this might not have been the best timing.

In the hours leading up to the transfer deadline for Premier League clubs, United supporters furiously refreshed social media with the hope of seeing confirmation of a new signing only to be left disappointed. Those fans who repeatedly visited United's official Twitter account would have felt a greater sense of indignation, however, as they discovered that their beloved club spent the day providing updates about their new app. After quotes emerged from Jose Mourinho's first pre-match press conference of the season, United's official Twitter feed posted no fewer than six reminders about the launch of the club's new app. While the new app looks great, it wasn't exactly the news that supporters were looking for as the 5pm deadline loomed. https://twitter.com/ManUtd/status/1027489683746504704 With Mourinho seemingly confirming that there would be no late arrivals in at Old Trafford, fans vented their frustration about the dimming likelihood of a much-needed centre-half being brought in. "The information I have is no," Mourinho said at his pre-match press conference when asked if he expected any new arrivals on Thursday. "I'm not confident, I'm not confident and the market closes today so is time at least for me to stop thinking about the market because the market will be closed." The club could have waited until the 5pm deadline had passed or spent the build-up to Friday's Premier League opener with Leicester promoting their new app and that was the point that annoyed supporters were seemingly attempting to get across.
