Manchester United supporters in no doubt about who should get their vacant No. 10 shirt

Seems a no-brainer

Some of the world’s greatest ever goalscorers have sported the Manchester United No. 10 jersey over the years and with it now vacant, supporters have identified the man they want to shoulder the responsibility.

Ibrahimovic’s move from United to LA Galaxy was confirmed on Friday and one of the Red Devils’ most iconic shirt numbers now has no owner.

“After being in Europe, winning 33 trophies, playing in the best teams in the world, playing with the best players in the world, I wanted to come to the U.S. and play my game there,” Ibrahimovic said in an interview in the LA Times.

“I wanted people to enjoy my game there and to win. And I chose the Galaxy to do that.”

With Romelu Lukaku currently sporting the No. 9 on his back and Anthony Martial rocking the No. 11, that leaves space for Marcus Rashford to take over the No. 10.

Manager Jose Mourinho has previously insisted that Rashford should wear the No. 19 after the youngster initially sported the No. 39 when he broke into the first team.

Mourinho was adamant that the academy product needs to wear a 9 on his back due to his belief that all great goalscorers wear that number.

“I don’t think Marcus is a No. 10,” Mourinho said, via Manchester Evening News. “I don’t think so. I think Marcus is a pure attacking player, he’s not a player with that quality to play between the lines, to assist, to move and create, I don’t think Marcus is that.

“I think he’s an attacking player who can play in a two or one, he can play besides, can play everywhere, he’s a good working way to if you demand a little bit more defensively, he can play together with Lukaku.”

And while his manager might be unconvinced of the 20-year-old’s ability to wear the No. 10, supporters are fully confident.
