Man United fans pre-empt the obvious joke ahead of Champions League draw

They've seen this one coming

Manchester United, as you might have heard, are no longer in the Champions League.

Despite starting their last 16 second leg against Sevilla as favourites to progress to the quarter finals after the goalless first match between the two sides, Jose Mourinho’s men put in a dismal showing at Old Trafford on Tuesday. The Spanish side scored two late goals, and although Romelu Lukaku pulled one back, by this stage the damage was irreversible. United crashed out.

The result was made all the more difficult to take given the ease with which United’s two fiercest rivals booked their places in the Champions League last eight. Liverpool and Manchester City were all but guaranteed their quarter final berths following comfortable away victories in their first legs against Porto and Basel respectively.

Having endured plenty of taunts from Liverpool and City supporters since the result on Tuesday night, United fans were clearly well prepared for another round of piss-takery ahead of the quarter final draw on Friday.

In fact, many of them even pre-empted the obvious joke they expected fans of rival clubs to be making…

You get the gist.

United’s only realistic hope of winning a trophy this year lies in the FA Cup. They host Brighton on Saturday evening, hoping to reach the competition’s semi-final.
