In the lead up to the big match, which was England's first major final in 55 years, Kate had penned an emotional and touching letter to her husband in which she told the striker how proud he was making his family.
Throughout the tournament players have not been able to have contact with anyone outside of their team bubble, so have been apart from their families for the entirety of the tournament.
