Frank Lampard leads well-wishers for ‘critically ill’ Ray Wilkins

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has posted a message of support for Ray Wilkins, after it emerged the former England international was 'critically ill' in hospital.

Reports emerged on Friday that Wilkins was in intensive care after suffering a suspected heart attack earlier in the week. Having been rushed from his home to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, London, he was placed in an induced coma. "He’s in hospital, he’s had a cardiac arrest and is in intensive care," Wilkins’ wife, Jackie, has told The Daily Mirror. "He is not in a good state at all, I’m afraid. He’s critically ill. The cardiac arrest led to a fall which has meant he’s had to be put in an induced coma. It’s very, very bad." Lampard, who worked with Wilkins when the 61-year-old was part of the coaching set-up at Stamford Bridge, shared a post to Instagram on Friday. 'All thoughts and strength with this man and his family tonight,' Lampard wrote.
