Rashford was given his marching orders shortly before half time for a tackle on Elias Jelert.

United were leading 2-0 thanks to Rasmus Hojlund's double and although the England international's attempt to win the ball back seemed innocent at the time, footage revealed that Rashford had caught the full back on the ankle.

A VAR review then determined that the 26-year-old's tackle was enough to warrant his dismissal.

The red sparked United's almighty capitulation as they threw away their two-goal lead minutes before the break as two quick-fire goals from Mohamed Elyounoussi and a penalty from Diogo Goncalves following a Harry Maguire handball in the box brought the two sides level.

Although Rashford clearly caught Jelert with his ankle, fans were left confused by the UEFA blog after they stated that the forward was sent off for "catching Jelert with his arm".

"Wait it’s for his arm??? If it’s his foot i agree if it’s for his arm it’s not a red lol," said one user.

A second posted: "They don’t even know what they’re robbing us with now.

"I actually cannot believe this," wrote a third.

Meanwhile a fourth commented: "You’ve got to be joking."

Erik ten Hag's side found themselves back in front after Bruno Fernandes restored their lead from the penalty spot but the 10-men folded once again as the Danish hosts struck twice without reply to win 4-3.
