He’s leaving his family at home.

David Beckham has announced that he is planning to move to Florida to live his dream of owning a football club.

Speaking at a press conference in Miami, David explained: “I want to thank my family.

“Brooklyn and my wife Victoria, who is at home with the other kids.

“They’ve been through the good times and the bad times and I owe them everything.”

“Whenever they [my family] can, they’ll be coming over.”

His wife Victoria is going to stay in London with their three youngest children – Romeo, 15, Cruz, 12, and six-year-old Harper – during school term time, but they will fly out to see him during the holidays.

Beckham was joined by eldest son Brooklyn, 18, at the announcement.

A video showed Victoria saying: “We can’t wait to be spending much more time in Miami.”

Daughter Harper added: “Hi daddy, I can’t wait to see your first football match!”

Beckham’s new club, which is yet to be named, will bring professional football back to Miami for the first time since 2001
