Moore took over as manager on a permanent basis after a spirited set of results towards the end of last season

Darren Moore, who nearly engineered a miracle escape from Premier League relegation for West Brom Albion last season, has been sacked by the club after a run of results which has seen the club win just four of their last 12 league games.

His sacking, which will also see his assistants leave the club, came after a 1-1 draw with bottom of the table Ipswich Town. The club are currently in fourth place in the Championship.

In a statement on Saturday evening, West Brom confirmed that they had parted company with Moore, with chief executive Mark Jenkins saying that it was a difficult decision for the club to come to.

“This has been an enormously difficult decision for a Club which will always hold Darren in such high regard,” said Jenkins.

“He took over at a very difficult time last season and reunited the Club, a contribution that will never be forgotten. But we have made it clear from the outset that everything this season was geared to making as swift a return to the Premier League as possible.

“Unfortunately Darren has not been able to engineer the consistency of form and results to convince the board that this objective would be met.”
